Suzanne: A Musical Maestro & Passionate Educator
Born in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Suzanne’s lifelong love affair with music began as she delicately touched the piano keys at the age of 6, swiftly followed by embracing the violin’s enchanting melodies at 8. Her musical journey gained momentum at 9 when her exceptional talent on the flute secured her a coveted spot in her school’s esteemed band, marking the genesis of a remarkable musical odyssey.
Throughout her secondary school years, Suzanne’s dedication to music flourished within the school band, where she participated in numerous performances and prestigious marching competitions. Her musical prowess transcended borders as she traveled to China and Taiwan, where her band performances fostered not only musical growth but also cultural enrichment.
Simultaneously juggling her musical commitments, Suzanne diligently prepared for her ABRSM Grade 8 piano exam, showcasing her unwavering commitment to musical excellence even in her formative years.
Suzanne’s passion for music blossomed into a teaching journey at the age of 19, where she began imparting her extensive piano knowledge to eager learners. Her dedication to music extended to her spiritual life as she became an integral part of her church’s worship band in 2014, sharing her piano and keyboard talents during church camps and functions.
Seeking to broaden her musical horizons, Suzanne pursued higher education at UCSI University in 2016, majoring in contemporary piano under the mentorship of Mr. Tiew Tok Khon. Here, she immersed herself in a diverse array of musical genres including Fusion Jazz, Funk, R&B, Bossa Nova, Swing, and Pop. Her versatility extended beyond the piano as she explored her flute skills within various musical ensembles.
Complementing her academic pursuits, Suzanne served as a committee member for the Institute of Music, contributing her passion and expertise to enrich the university’s musical environment.
In her relentless pursuit of musical excellence and pedagogical growth, Suzanne participated in the choir trip to Myanmar in 2018 for a prestigious music festival performance. Her commitment to evolving as an educator led her to attend the International Kodaly Symposium in 2019, enhancing her teaching abilities through the application of the Kodaly method.
Embracing a multifaceted career journey, Suzanne’s tenure at Mega Music World from 2014 allowed her to not only teach but also organize recitals, music competitions, and annual concerts. Her role honed her organizational and managerial skills, enriching her holistic approach to music education.
Currently expanding her musical repertoire, Suzanne is fervently pursuing her Grade 5 violin exam, showcasing her dedication to continual learning and mastery across multiple instruments.
Suzanne’s journey exemplifies a harmonious blend of musical mastery, pedagogical dedication, and an unwavering commitment to both personal and student growth in the world of music.
