Chow Qian

Piano Instructor

“ At first I didn’t like it, but at some turning point, I started to like learning the piano.”

It was Chow Qian’s mother who encouraged her to pick up the piano at the age of 6. It wasn’t until she was 7 that she started to appreciate music. During her teenage years, she joined her school marching band, playing the saxophone. Her passion for music continued into her university years when she entered UCSI University as a music student. She eventually progressed into drums and has now acquired skills in various musical instruments.

Chow Qian is now a pianist in a band named BASCON, performing in university events. She aspires to focus on performances in the future and teach music at the same time. While swing remains her all-time favorite genre, she also plays bossa nova and ballads. Chow Qian urges growing musicians to keep practicing, “Practice. Just keep practicing. In learning music, practice is for the rest of your life. If you don’t, you’re wasting your time and money.”
