A homegrown Sabah boy, Steward was exposed to music since he was 3, when his grandmother would always hold karaoke sessions and urge him to sing. It implanted in Steward his music sense and he started to truly adore music when he entered high school. A friend noticed his potential and persuaded him to get involved in singing. The media also contributed to his appreciation for music and he later realized how much it can impact people.
Being trained under his school music teacher, Steward ventured into singing competitions and have been thriving since. His notable achievement includes obtaining champion in a Chinese Dialect Association state level singing competition (潮州公会歌唱比赛). He is now a UCSI University music student who majors in contemporary vocal, with pop rock defining his musical style. He recently fronts the band, BASCON, providing performances for university events. His biggest aspiration is to secure a record deal.
Steward hopes to convey a strong sense of humility in the music sphere, in which he asserts, “Be as humble as you can while learning, don’t ever try to use music as a tool to compete with others or to shoot others down because music is not a competition. If something negative comes from music, I don’t think it’s a beautiful thing.”
