Growing up in a household that cherished singing and karaoke, Ashley’s exposure to music started at a very young age. Music and singing have always been part and parcel of her life. She started taking piano lessons when she was 7 years old, this was the starting point of her musical journey and education.
In 2013, she participated in the Yamaha Piano Course Competition Advanced Level Solo Category and won first place in the competition. She also passed her ABRSM Grade 8 Piano exams with distinction. During her high school days, she also actively participated in her church’s choir.
Ashley went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Music for Primary Education majoring in vocal. In her vocal education, she has received both classical and contemporary singing training. During her time in university, she actively participated in many singing competitions throughout Malaysia and won several. In 2016, she emerged champion in a singing competition in Sungai Petani, Kedah. In 2017, she won the competition organized by Midlink Music Academy. In 2019, she won the singing competition in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur.
Besides, Ashley holds a Master’s degree in Music Education, providing a solid foundation for her teaching expertise. She is currently a music teacher in a primary school.
She is an advocate for the art of healthy singing and constantly stresses on the importance of adopting sustainable and proper singing habits and techniques. By encouraging students to listen to their bodies, she hopes to instill a sense of responsibility in their vocal well-being.
She believes learning is a two-way street. While imparting knowledge and skills to her students, she acknowledges that her class is not just a space of instruction but a also an arena for mutual growth of the student and teacher.
